The
new A2 IPPC draft guidance for the glass sector has identified emissions
from the hot end coating process as a source of pollution. It sets
out emissions limits for the process with the requirement to demonstrate
compliance by annual monitoring of emissions.
Most hot end coating operations will not be designed to meet these
limits. They will have been installed without considering the need
for monitoring or meeting requirements for vent height and efflux
velocity.
To assist industry with this issue GTS is able to offer the following
service:
Initial site survey to:
Identify suitable positions for sampling points for measurement
of emissions.
Advise
on duct modifications if no suitable sampling position is available.
Ensure the vent height and exit meets the requirements.
Ensure efflux velocity meets the requirements.
Full
set of emissions tests to:
Identify where you stand in relation to the new limits.
Provide useful data for your IPPC application emissions inventory.
Help in determining BAT for the process for your IPPC application.
