In 2014 Oliver joined the Glass Technology Services technical team within the Product Performance department, initially carrying out physical strength tests and analysis on containers, he went on to hone his fractography skills through detailed failure investigation of specialist pharmaceutical, flat and container glass. More recently Oliver manages a grant funded research project on defect detection and provides technical support within the wider R&D Team, alongside routine commercial analysis.
Oliver holds a BEng (Hons) in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Sheffield, this involved a dissertation on encapsulation of nuclear waste material in perovskite ceramics. Upon graduation Oliver took up a research project on advanced polymers at Lubrizol Advanced Materials. This led into a role as an analytical chemist within the quality control department for the same organisation at their manufacturing site in Huddersfield.
