The South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the transformational impact apprenticeships have on individuals and businesses across the county, and we were delighted that our very own Ebony Woodhall picked up the Higher Apprentice of the Year award for 2025.
Ebony began her Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship with us in 2022 before embarking on a degree level apprenticeship with Sheffield Hallam University in September 2023. She has played a key role in several essential business functions including sustainability, quality management, health and safety and customer operations.
Impacts on sustainability and quality
One of Ebony’s most significant contributions has been leading the company’s sustainability initiative, particularly in tracking scope 3 emissions. She has also played a crucial role in maintaining the company’s quality accreditations, with a meticulous attention to detail that has been invaluable in audit processes.
“Ebony has been a huge support to the Quality department, helping us maintain and improve the quality system across the whole business. Her audits are some of the best I've ever reviewed and have helped us identify deficiencies and areas for improvement.”
Amy Ashton, quality manager
Supporting workplace improvements
Ebony also plays an active role in improving workplace culture, with her ability to critically evaluate internal procedures and implement changes leading to a more streamlined and efficient appraisal system.
“Not only does Ebony excel in her role – she also goes above and beyond to support multiple teams within our organisation. She is a shining example of teamwork, resilience and continuous learning and we are incredibly grateful for her contributions.”
Amy Faulkner, HR manager
A standout apprentice
Ebony’s achievements in sustainability, compliance and workplace improvement showcase her ability to make a tangible difference to Glass Technology Services, and her dedication to learning, mentoring and continuous professional development sets her apart as a standout apprentice.
“Ebony played a key role in developing a detailed metric for tracking travel emissions, which has made a big difference to how we approach our environmental responsibilities.”
Victoria Adams, communications manager
Special recognition for Tara Cusworth
Another talented member of our team, Tara Cusworth, was presented with a certificate of special recognition for her Degree Apprenticeship of the Year nomination.
Tara, who joined us in 2014, is another shining example of apprenticeship success. During her journey with Glass Technology Services, she has demonstrated the power of work-based learning, progressing onto a degree apprenticeship and receiving three promotions, leading to her current position of customer operations manager.
